About me

I’m Tim.

And I’ve been overthinking People Analytics since 2012.

The Swiss Army knife of People Analytics.

Why I still love it

I’m genuinely honoured to work in People Analytics. Since 2012, I’ve had the chance to wake up every weekday and try to make someone’s working day a little better.

Maybe their manager actually pays attention in their 1:1. Maybe they take a day off when they’re sick, their leader listens to their survey feedback, or they simply get a little more freedom to be themselves.

Those moments sound small. I don’t think they are.

When work is a little better, people do better work and companies perform better. And when someone closes the laptop at the end of the day, I think they have a little more left to be a friend, a parent, or simply themselves.

A fairly random walk

I’ve been lucky enough to work with organisations small and large, old and new, across tech, energy, FMCG, financial services, and the public sector. I’ve seen beautifully mature People Analytics functions and, perhaps just as usefully, a hot mess or two.

That’s why I call myself the Swiss Army knife of People Analytics. You probably won’t need every blade. But if you have a People Analytics problem, there’s a good chance I have a useful tool for it.

People Analytics used to need a room full of specialists. Today, PAPi, a good mentor and knowing when to ask for help can give one curious analyst extraordinary range.
